It was initiated from Goryeo ages and had developed to the home handicraft industry. Under the order given by the royal court of Joseon dynasty about 100 years ago, craftsman Han Chunggyo from the white mat producing village, Yango-ri, Haesongmyeon, Ganghwa-gun, achieved a successful product by the design of his own idea. Thereafter, various designes has been developed and manufacturing techniques improved up to the present time.
Use
The handicraft looks gorgeous and naive design and get exquisite and elegance. Highly recommended for a set up in the living room for the honorable guests. Also, the gracefulness and extraordinarily artistical worth creates an illustrious atmosphere.
Features
Rush of Hwamunseok mat is substantially cool and absorptive of moisture in summer and protective nature against chill of cold weather in winter. Even though using them for a long time, they still keep good glassy and un-breakable but durable.

Rush, nylon yarn, dyestuff, design, weaving frame, string stone, knife.
Manufacturing Process
Rush shall be dyed first and by using the Hwamunseok mat frame the pattern will be embroidered. Then, with nylon yarn the strand will be interchangeably woven. One Hamunseok mat takes 7 - 10 days collaborating work with 2 or 3 craftsmen.
Standard
Ordinary Hwamunseok mat: 5 x 7, 6 x 9, 7 x 10 Custom made Hwamunseok: As requested on specific standard and design 2 or 3 craftsmen as a team, takes 7-10 days for a piece of mat produced.
