History Museum of strengthening the cultural heritage preservation and study of enhancing the public museum is established for the purpose of exhibiting. Ganghwa Farming Culture Center is built and opened for the purpose of showcasing the agricultural feature of the past, present and future. These agricultural features are vividly presented to the visitors in a differentiated manner especially by providing farming village experience and learning for the residents and students residing in urban area. This is done so as to enhance the substantial effect of increased earnings of the farming village. The number of visitors keeps increasing since its opening on June 12, 2003.

Since its establishment, it has been suitably providing the visitors with pertinent information and knowledge about agricultural management and farming machinery used both in the past and present. Currently, it establishes itself as an important venue that educates the young generation about precious values such as the function of agriculture as its public benefit.

In addition, it organizes four-season programs that are composed of the site experience learning for the secondary school students. These programs include but are not limited to potato digging, red pepper picking, sweet potato digging, and turnip experience. These programs not only facilitate learning also attract the attention of the people initiating consumption culture such as urban housewives. The center exerts its real value by systematically arranging such programs to be conducted by each research society through the items that have been autonomously conceived.

Especially, this Center serves the role as the venue where agricultural products are reliably promoted through the multi-dimensional promotion conducted about delicious agricultural products originated from Ganghwa. This center is firmly establishing its position as a bridge that facilitates repeated exchange between urban consumers and farmers while actively coping with the increasing demand of direct transaction in the future.

Ganghwa Hwamunseok, which is the only Korean rush handicraft, is the legacy of our cultural life as it is inherited from Goryeo (the ancient Korean state) period, being the product that is exclusively produced in Ganghwa-gun. In order to succeed and develop such cultural inheritance of the nation, Ganghwa-gun has invested a total of 2.73 billion won for the project of constructing the Hwamunseok Cultural Center at Yangoh-ri Songhae-myeon, which is the origin of Hwamunseok.

In this Center, the visitor can watch the feature of the various transitions that have been critical in the past, present and future of rush-made handicrafts as well as Hwamunseok. This Center grants the visitor the opportunity of gaining a firsthand experience in producing a rush-made product and Hwamunseok under the guidance of a handicraftsman.
