Iron Seated Amitabha Buddha of Baengnyeonsa Temple, Ganghwa
The main characteristic of this Iron Seated Amitabha Buddha sculpture is made of iron, and the seated figure was coated with golden paint. The countenance of this figure expresses an extreme restraint without any indications of happiness and or sadness. This figure impresses an atmosphere of calm and composed. It is estimated that this Buddha statue was sculptured some times between 14 and 15 centuries. But unfortunately this happened missing during the month of December 1989.
